The Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association values our members and the individuals
who interact with and support us and will continue to protect the personal information which you
entrust to us.
Privacy Act
The Association will comply with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) and accepts our
responsibilities as set out in the 'Privacy Act' under those principles.
How we Comply with NPPs
A copy of this privacy policy and fact sheets in relation to how we comply with the NPPs are available
from any branch and from the state office of the Association.
Identifying our Association when we collect Personal Information
When we ask you for personal information, the Association will ensure that all forms and documents
will clearly identify the Association by name and/or logo.
Collection of Personal Information
The type of personal information we collect from you will depend on the type of activity and contact
you have with the Association. We collect personal information necessary for one or more of our
functions and activities to meet our Objects of Association. These objects include advertising,
marketing and fundraising for the Association.
You will need to provide personal information for membership purposes and we ask you to provide
limited Sensitive Information of a medical nature to meet our Duty of Care to you or your children in
case of an accident whilst in our care.
A list of the forms the Association uses to capture personal information and why we use these forms is
available for perusal. If you don't want your personal information used for any particular function or
activity by the Association, you can advise us by completing our Opt Out form.
Disclosure of Personal Information
Personal information is strictly confidential. The Association will not disclose your personal information
to any third parties except for the purposes of meeting our Objects of Association.
We may disclose personal information where you would reasonably expect us to do so or where the
disclosure is for an activity related to the purpose for which the personal information was originally
collected.
For example: where we collect personal information to allow participation in demonstrations of skill to
gain qualifications in a sport and then we disclose this information to the third party organisation that
provides the certificate or awards the qualification.
The 'Privacy Act' also allows for circumstances in which we may disclose personal information.
For example: where there are grounds to believe that it is necessary for the personal information to be
released to prevent a threat to life or health or where it is required by law.
The Association will not disclose personal information to an individual in a foreign country that is not
subject to a comparable information privacy scheme except with the consent of the owner of the
personal information or as permitted by the Privacy Act.
Quality and Security of Personal Information
We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we collect, use or
disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date and ensure that such data collected by the Association
is protected from misuse or unauthorised access.
Access to and Correction of your Personal Information
You are entitled to access your personal information held by the Association. Once your identity has
been verified, our procedures allow you to access your personal information, receive a copy and
amend the personal information if it is incorrect.
Destruction of Personal Information of No Further Use
The Association will take all reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify any personal
information collected on or provided by you that is of no further use to the Association.
Complaints about Breaches of the Privacy Act
The Association has a complaint and problem solving process. If you feel aggrieved by our actions, or
that your privacy has been breached, please use our procedures to resolve your issue. Access to
these procedures can be made through any branch and/or the state office of the Association.

Our Privacy Officer will make all attempts to resolve your issue, or if you are not satisfied with the

Non use of a Commonwealth or State Government Agency Identifier
The Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association will not use an identifier that has been
assigned by a Commonwealth or State Government agency as our identifier for the personal
information that you have provided to the Association.
Amendments to Privacy Policy
The Board of the QPCYWA may amend this policy or our procedures from time to time without giving
any notice of such amendments.
